Pine has several visible closed knots; pine wood is medium-weight and relatively soft. Its strength and elasticity are good. Pine trees are considered softwood trees, which means the wood is softer than hardwood varieties. Although pine is softer and more pliable than most hardwoods, many pieces will still last for decades if they are well constructed. Shown above are a solid Pine table top 1” thick top with a 2” metal insert and 1” bottom edge in heavy distress plank style.
